Practice Nurse Appointments
A Practice Nurse is a qualified primary health care nurse that supports the everyday health needs of the public. The role of a Practice Nurse requires many skills to help with different areas of health care. Practice Nurses plan and provide nursing care, health reviews, screening, treatment, and health education to patients of all ages. They are involved in almost every aspect of patient care and treatment, specifically helping patients prevent illness. Their appointments include:
- An injection, including vaccinations and immunisations.
- A BP check-up.
- A Health Check
- A Long-term condition reviews.
- A Smear
- Blood tests

Our online system is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Although we try to respond during the same day, please allow up to three working days for a response.
Cervical Smears
We believe it is important for women to attend cervical smear testing between the ages of 25 to 65. This can be done by either of our practice nurses. Please ask reception for an appointment.
Baby Clinic
Wednesday 1.30 to 3.30pm
The baby clinics are run by Dr Unwin for child development checks. They are by appointment only.
Asthma Clinic/COPD Clinic/Diabetic Clinic/Heart Clinic
Are all available by appointment with the Practice Nurses
Immunisation Clinic
Wednesday 9.00 to 11.30am
This is run by the practice nurses by appointment only.
Immunisations can be given on other days by appointment with Practice Nurses if necessary. Someone with the right to consent to treatment, usually a parent, must come to these appointments
Minor Surgery
Dr Unwin carries out minor surgical procedures at the surgery. We have a waiting list for these appointments. If you have been added to this list, we will contact you to advise when there is a clinic being run, and to book an appointment.
Family Planning - LARC (Long-acting Contraception) Clinic
Dr Palmer and Dr Wong fit and remove contraceptive implants. Dr Wong also fits coils. We have a waiting list for these appointments. If you have been added to this list we will contact you to advise when there is a clinic being run, and to book you an appointment. We try to run one a month on the second Thursday of the month.
Non-NHS Examinations
The doctors are happy to carry out medicals, eg insurance and driving licence, by appointment outside surgery hours. Please telephone the surgery for an appointment. Please ask the receptionist for the charges for these services.
Flu Vaccination
An influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for patients aged over 65 and those adults and children with heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes, and residents of nursing and rest homes, also pregnant women in all stages of pregnancy. Well children aged 2,3 & 4 are encouraged to come for flu vaccination by a nasal spray administered in the surgery.
Please contact the reception staff in October for details of the vaccination dates and to make an appointment. If you are completely housebound a home visit can be arranged through reception.
